Racing heads to Wyong Race Club on Wednesday afternoon with a very competitive seven-part program set to be run and won. We should have perfect conditions for the meeting, with little to no rain forecast leading into raceday. The Good 4 surface currently listed looks likely, and with the rail moving out +3m for the entire circuit, we’re hopeful the Wyong track should play relatively evenly throughout proceedings. The first race is scheduled to get underway at 1:45pm AEDT.
Best bet: Seven Sisters
All of our bets for Wyong will be coming in the latter part of the meeting and we start with the James Cummings-trained Seven Sisters returning from a 27-week spell. This now three-year-old filly wasn’t disgraced in her two-year-old campaign, running well into fourth in the Blue Diamond Prelude for the fillies. The after drawing barrier 14 in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes, Seven Sisters never really got a chance in that feature event. She had one more run in early July before being put away and now returns with two recent trials to suggest she’s going very well heading into this first-up assignment. She was asked for very little in those efforts and still powered to the line under a hold. Tim Clark takes the reins on this daughter of Street Boss and her best form should see Seven Sisters prove too strong from a pristine draw.

Next best: Dirty Merchant
Dirty Merchant looks to have plenty of ability and we’re hoping this gelding out of Merchant Navy can make it back-to-back wins in this BM64 contest. His return at Canberra on December 30 was very impressive when going on to score by 2.4 lengths after leading throughout. Alysha Collett expertly took luck out of the equation in that first-up performance and we’re hoping something similar can unfold on Wednesday afternoon. There looks a moderate tempo on paper here with another likely speed horse in Journalism drawn on our outside, so they’ll be looking to cross together from barriers nine and 10. If Dirty Merchant can cross easy enough and get a soft lead early in the race, we think he’ll take a power of beating. Glint Of Silver and Piraeus will be closing late but Dirty Merchant should be off and gone at the turn.

Next best again: Pink Baroque
We look to finish the Wyong card with a winner as Pink Baroque looks for his second win this preparation. This Chris Waller-trained filly was strong to the line in her win at Randwick on Boxing Day and should be set a similar task in this BM64 for the fillies and mares. She draws the same barrier from that winning effort and should get the exact same run in behind the speed and if the breaks come as they did over the 1400m, this 1350m race should suit perfectly for this daughter of Caravaggio. Brenton Avdulla hops aboard and if he can replicate the ride of Zac Lloyd from last start, Pink Baroque can be winning again.
