The $250,000 Wyong Cup has attracted a quality field of 12 and headlines a bumper eight-part program on Friday afternoon. The rail is in the true position the entire circuit for the meeting, and with the clear skies forecast to continue across the region, punters should be assured of a genuine Good 4 surface throughout proceedings. The opening event is scheduled to get underway at 12:50pm local time.
Wyong Cup Tip: Etna Rosso
The Chris Waller barn has three strong chances engaged for the 2024 Wyong Cup, none more intriguing than Etna Rosso. The son of Decorated Knight couldn’t have been more impressive in his most recent outing at Rosehill on August 17, sitting three-wide without cover towards the rear of the field before exploding in the final 400m to score by 1.8 lengths eased down. The further he steps out in trip, the more likeable the lightly raced five-year-old becomes, and although this is clearly Etna Rosso’s toughest task to date, this guy should prove hard to hold out on the 54kg minimum.

Best Bet at Wyong: Yoshinobu
Yoshinobu was too bad to be true in his only start last preparation and appears ready to fire first-up after a 194-day spell. The Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald-trained colt caught the eye in a recent barrier trial at Warwick Farm on August 27, going on to score by a half-length as he cruised through the wire under his own steam. Kerrin McEvoy should get every chance to make every post a winner from stall two, and although many of these may have a fitness edge, Yoshinobu should have the class to get the job done.

Next Best at Wyong: Weeping Woman
Weeping Woman was on the verge of a hat-trick at Canterbury on August 28 but was just claimed in the shadows of the post. The daughter of Lonhro was attempting to lead every step of the way but was simply outclassed stepping into BM72 company for the first time. This is a significant step back in grade for the Joseph Pride-trained mare, and with gate three allowing Regan Bayliss to slot into the one-one rather than take up the running, this should be the perfect setup for Weeping Woman to get back to winning ways.
