Wonder Boy returns after a 70-day spell in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday afternoon, with the Jerome Hunter barn setting their sights on the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) later in the spring.

Speaking with Racing.com, Hunter confirmed the likely path for the undefeated son of Cosmic Force, using Saturday’s feature as launching pad for some of the key three-year-old features throughout the spring carnival.

“He pretty much showed what we thought he had (on debut),” said Hunter.

“Decided to give him a spell after that, a quick freshen up aiming for the spring carnival.

“I think it might be a bit too sharp for him (1100m) on Saturday but it’s not the grand final, we’re going to give him a Guineas path, so I think what he showed through the line at Flemington the horse you’d say 1400m to a mile would be perfect.”

“He’ll run on Saturday, then two weeks later he’ll go to 1200m, and then we’ll find probably a Guineas Prelude or something to step him up (in trip) and hopefully he’s there on grand final.”

Wonder Boy is currently the second favourite at $4.00 with online bookmakers for the Group 3 Vain Stakes on Saturday.

Meanwhile, $51.00 is available in futures markets for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas on October 12.
