Ascot Racecourse will host a cracking nine-race card this Saturday, highlighted by the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes. The track is currently rated a Soft 6, but with no rain on the forecast for Friday and Saturday, we expect the track to get into the Good range by Saturday. The rail has been pushed out to the 3m position after a big day of racing last weekend in the true position, so we think the winners will come from the back and down the outside later in the day. The first race of the day will jump at 12:05pm AWST.

Best Bet: Revitup
We are looking to start Winterbottom Stakes Day with a winner in the first, when we side with Revitup for the Dion Luciani yard. This three-year-old filly returned from a three-month spell in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes on November 12, where she went down to her stablemate My Bella Mae over 1200m. This daughter of Demerit led the field up in the Placid Ark Stakes and she looked the winner on the home turn when she kicked away and got to a two-length lead on the rest of the field, but it wasn’t to be. There is no My Bella Mae in this field on Saturday and she actually drops half a kilogram to 54kg. William Pike will stick with this filly and with no other speed influence in the race, she should be able to cross the field from barrier seven and take up the lead uncontested. If Pike has this girl in a rhythm after the first 400m and she is allowed to set her own pace, they shouldn’t be able to run her down in the home straight.

Next Best Bet: All The King’s Men
Our next best bet will come up in the Listed Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic over 1400m, where we will be backing the Trevor Andrews-trained All The King’s Men to turn the tables on Saintorio who beat him over the line in the W.A Guineas last weekend. This three-year-old gelding has won three of his first 10 starts including two wins in a row to start this campaign over 1200m and 1400m. At Ascot on October 15 over 1400m, this son of King’s Troop defeated Saintorio by half a length. 1400m is his best distance as he has never missed the top two in four starts, and 1600m may
have been a stretch too far at this point of his career. Barrier nine shouldn’t be a problem for this guy as he has won while leading and from the back of the field running on.
Next Best Bet
Race 6 – #3 All The King’s Men (9)
3yo Colt | T: Trevor Andrews | J: Paul Harvey (56.5kg)
$3.90 with Bet365
Best Value: Winning Partner
The final event of the day will see our best value bet go around in the RTG 78+ Handicap over 1600m, where we will be siding with Winning Partner from the Tony & Calvin McEvoy yard. This seven-year-old gelding has been running in some nice races over the Victorian Spring Carnival including the Listed Headquarters Stakes at Flemington, and he won the VOBIS Gold Star at Moonee Valley two starts back over 1500m. If this son of Dawn Approach brings his best form with him to Perth, he looks hard to beat in a race that lacks depth, with only one last start winner in the race. From barrier five, this gelding can sit a lot closer than he did last start and he should be better than the rest of these runners.
Best Value
Race 9 – #2 Winning Partner (5)
