Sydney-based bloodstock agent Andrew Williams continued a productive few days at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale when he went to $550,000 to secure Lot 307, a colt by Hellbent presented by Kilgravin Lodge deep into the final session of the two-day sale.
“I thought he was one of the standout horses of the sale,” Williams said. “He is a particularly fast looking horse and I have got a lot of time for the stallion Hellbent.
“This horse is very well put together and breezed well. He also came highly recommended by Eion Kemp, who is a trusted horseman.
“This is for a new client who was wanting a sprinting style of horse.
“The horse will be given his chance, possibly in Australia, and then head to Hong Kong in time.”
By Hellbent, a promising young stallion by I Am Invincible out of the winning Magic Albert mare Title Holder, the colt comes from the family of Group 1 Goodwood Handicap (1400m) winner Keeper.
Sire of the stakes winner Miss Hellfire plus stakes performers Divine Glory, Hell Hath No Fury, Bohemian Daisy, Hell Queen, Warby and Awestruck, Hellbent’s eldest progeny are three-year-olds.
The handsome colt represented an outstanding pinhooking result for Eion Kemp of Kilgravin Lodge, who relied on the eyes of bloodstock agents Bevan Smith and Johnny McKeever who purchased the colt as a yearling for $120,000.
