The Sale Turf Club will host a very competitive nine-race card this Wednesday, with the first four races over the jumps and the last five on the flat. The track is currently rated a Soft 6, but with rain on the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, we could be racing on a Heavy track. The rail will be in the +5m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 11:35am AEST.
Best Bet at Sale: King Neptune
After breaking his maiden two starts back at Cranbourne over 1400m on May 5, the Phillip Stokes-trained King Neptune defeated all bar one of his rivals last start at Pakenham after leading for 1350m of the 1400m event. This three-year-old gelding has finished in the top four at his last four starts, including two seconds and the win two starts back, showing his consistency. The son of Ocean Park jumped well and took up the lead at his last start at Pakenham on May 25, but he over-raced slightly which told late in the race as Jabbawockeez ran over the top of him to claim victory. Jamie Mott will take the ride on him this Wednesday, and from barrier 13 we expect him to push forward and sit outside the likely leader in Proprietary. If King Neptune can get to the front without doing too much work, he should record the second win of his career.

Next Best Bet at Sale: Queen Of The Green
Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr sent Queen Of The Green to the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville first-up this preparation, where she finished eighth — only beaten by 2.9 lengths — at her third career start. This daughter of Written Tycoon settled in fifth on the rail behind the leaders, and her effort in the final 100m showed that she has class and could be close to a win. On Wednesday, the four-year-old mare will drop back to Class 1, where she should be extremely hard to beat over 1208m. Beau Mertens will take the ride on this mare, and from barrier 10 of 11 we should see them settle at the back of the field. If the field run along at a solid enough tempo, Queen Of The Green should go very close to winning.

Best Value: Regal Zeus
The fifth race of the day is a 2YO Maiden Plate where only four of the runners have raceday experience, and one of those is the John McArdle-trained Regal Zeus. McArdle and his team thought enough of this gelding to debut him in the Blue Diamond Preview, where he ran ninth of nine and was beaten by 9.8 lengths. On May 24, at his second race start, this son of Zoustar missed the kick by three lengths after he nearly fell; however, Jamie Mott pushed him along to tack onto the back of the field before peeling out four and five wide to make his run on the home turn, and he started to rally late before all that extra work caught up with him. If Regal Zeus can jump with them at his next start over slightly further, he should play a prominent role in the finish.
