Warwick Farm is the destination for NSW metropolitan racing on Wednesday afternoon, with seven races on the card. The rail is back in the true position the entire circuit, and with minor showers forecast for race-day, we expect the track could dip into the Soft range by the opening race at 12:50pm AEST.
Best Bet: Green Shadows
Green Shadows has been testing the patience of punters for some time now but should be close to rewarding the faith. His return on May 27 at Randwick was impressive when racing towards the rear of the field and then chasing home with vigour between horses. He never got fully extended until the last 200m and he really warmed up going past the post. This son of Menari has had a tick over trial prior to this second-up effort, and coming back to BM72 level looks like ideal placement from the Ryan & Alexiou barn. Jockey Zac Lloyd’s 1.5kg claim ensures Green Shadows is well weighted for this.

Next Best: Dakota Vroom
Dakota Vroom is a galloper with plenty of ability, which might explain why the Chris Waller yard has entered her in a BM64 against the fillies despite zero wins to her name. She’s only had one start, beaten 3.9 lengths by Parisal on the Kensington course at Randwick on February 3. The margin was significant but the form is top class, as the winner has gone on to score in black-type races while Dakota Vroom has been biding her time in the paddock. Her jump-out was exceptional, and although this is a tough first-up assignment, we’re confident she can break her maiden on return.

Next Best Again: Mutamanni
It can take some time for imported gallopers to acclimatise to Australian conditions; however, Mutamanni already looks like a stayer on the rise. He won first-up at Sandown on May 21 before being a beaten favourite over the mile on June 10, but we’re more than willing to forgive that effort. He was cast wide throughout the journey and got way too far back, finishing four lengths away. He’s much better than that, and with an economical run almost guaranteed from gate four, Mutamanni can score his second win in Australia before finding much better races in the future.
Next Best Again
Race 7 – #2 Mutamanni (4)
