The Warrnambool Racing Club is set to host an eight-race card for Public Holiday racing in Victoria on Monday afternoon. With a bit of luck, Horsebetting’s Victorian form expert can help steer you into a couple of winners to end the long weekend on a high. The track has come up a Soft 5, with the rail out 4m the entire circuit, with racing commencing at 12:35pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Warrnambool – Sir Davy
Our bet of the day comes up in the opening leg of the quaddie when the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Sir Davy goes around in a BM64 over 1400m. Having chased home Zac De Boss at Sandown on February 23, the four-year-old Street Boss gelding is set to appreciate dropping out of metro grade and coming back to a country meet. Having settled three wide with no cover on that day, he did well to stick on to go down by just 1.25 lengths and suggests he would’ve finished closer with better luck. The step up to 1400m from the 1300m third-up from a spell looks ideal and if Ethan Brown can find cover midfield aboard the toppy, then we expect Sir Davy’s turn of foot to be superior in a race like this. The $2.30 on offer from Sportsbet looks to be the right price.
Next Best at Warrnambool – Defining
Fresh from a six-month spell, the Tom Dabernig-trained Defining is set to have just her second career start. Having debuted on the Ballarat Synthetic back in August last year, she looked to have plenty of excuses on that day and did well to flash home to finish fifth when beaten by just two lengths. The three-year-old Not A Single Doubt filly will look to get back in the running and with a sharp turn of foot looks the one to be with over 1100m. The Tom Dabernig and Blaike McDougall is a combination worth following as demonstrated with Flying Mascot at Flemington on Saturday. Defining however will get the race run to her liking with a genuine tempo expected throughout the race, thus leaving it set up for a backmarker like her to finish over the top.
Best Value at Warrnambool – Susanne Joy
In the penultimate event of the day, the Leon & Troy Corstens-trained Susanne Joy will look to build on her last start Werribee maiden win when she steps out in a BM64 over 1700m. Having sat outside the leader throughout the mile last time out, the three-year-old Maurice filly manage to kick clear in the home straight and put up an impressive margin. Despite this obviously being a harder assignment, the chestnut filly looks to have enough under her hood to take out a race like this. Robbie Downey will look to roll forward on the filly and from barrier four will look to hold the rail throughout, with not much speed drawn underneath. With a couple of cheap sectionals, Susanne Joy should prove too hard to run down the $8 on offer from Ladbrokes is enticing.
