Prominent Western Australian-owner Bob Peters has sent quality gallopers Inspirational Girl (NZ) (Reliable Man) and Superstorm (Sebring) to Victorian trainer Danny O’Brien ahead of the spring carnival.
Both horses, who were previously prepared by Grant and Alana Williams for Peters, arrived in Melbourne on Tuesday morning.
“They were due to fly out on a plane over a month ago but that got canceled and we have been waiting ever since,” Peters told racing.com.
“Danny has a similar situation to us (with his Barwon Heads property) and has established the setup and a routine which our horses should fit in to.
“He is very happy to have them.
“Grant has been going over to spend months at a time with our horses in Victoria. But he and Alana are busy with a team in work here, so it was decided to send Inspirational Girl and Superstorm to Danny.”
New Zealand-bred five-year-old Inspirational Girl makes her maiden voyage to Victoria as a winner of nine of her 12 starts in Western Australia, including the Gr.1 Railway Stakes (1600m).
Superstorm was runner-up to stablemate Regal Power in the 2020 All-Star Mile and finished third in the Gr.1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) last spring.
“They have been in work for six weeks and in a couple of weeks will be ready to trial and go to the races in August,” Peters said.
“They are on track at the moment to go to the PB Lawrence (Gr.2, 1400m) or the Memsie (Gr.1, 1400m).
“They have very similar ratings, I am flexible when it comes to the races for them but they might get too much weight in a Caulfield Cup (Gr.1, 2400m).”
Both horses will be nominated for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, as well as the Gr.1 Cox Plate (2040m).
Inspirational Girl was purchased by John Chalmers for $190,000 at the 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sales from the draft of Jamieson Park.
Out of the Zabeel mare Be Inspired, Inspirational Girl is a half-sister to Listed winner Reuttiger (Duporth), in addition to multiple winners Allez Bien (NZ) (O’Reilly) and It’s Our Showtime (NZ) (Showcasing).
