Trial Calendar changes to cater for Sale upgrade

As a result of the Sale Greyhound Racing track upgrade, which will see the closure of the track from Tuesday 3 January, Greyhound Clubs Victoria in partnership with Clubs in the southeast area have developed a plan to address the loss of trials at Sale and boost capacity overall through additional trial slots and extended trial sessions being scheduled by the Sandown, Warragul, and Traralgon Clubs.

Trial calendars published by GRV will include schedule changes. A summary of the changes to provide an increase in capacity is shown in the table below.

Club Trial Day Changes during Sale closure
Sandown Tuesday Session change from Wednesday, effective Jan 10
Friday Session change from Saturday and extension of session, effective Jan 13
Sunday Extension of session after the meeting effective Jan 15
Traralgon Tuesday Existing session now includes arm trials
Warragul Wednesday Two sessions:

  • 11:00am – 2.20pm
  • 2:40pm – 5.16pm (may be extended subject to demand)
Thursday Extension of session after the meeting
Sunday Inclusion of session after the meeting
Sale Bull ring open Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays

Clubs need your support

We need your support to make sure trials are available for as many participants as possible on an equal basis.

Over the past 12 months there have been a number of late cancellations and ‘no-shows’ which put greater stress on trial capacity and reduces the opportunities for other participants to secure trials.

As a result, a 3-step escalation procedure has now been introduced by all Clubs in the event of trial booking and cancellation processes not being followed appropriately:

  1. an initial warning,
  2. a 1-week exclusion from trialling at the relevant Club for repeat occurrence(s),
  3. a 1-month exclusion from trialling at the relevant Club for further repeat occurrence(s).

Clubs will continue to review the Trial Calendar changes to ensure that scheduled sessions are optimised to cater for the required demand.
