The Group 3 Toy Show Quality is a 1100m horse race held at Royal Randwick in mid-August each year.
Restricted to fillies and mares, the Group 3 event is run for $250,000 on Winx Stakes Day and helps kick off the Sydney Spring Carnival.
First run in 1995, the Toy Show Quality is named after the star filly Toy Show, who claimed the Golden Slipper and Newmarket Handicap during her career.
Red Tracer is arguably the most successful horse who has taken out the Toy Show Quality, having gone on to win multiples times at Group 1 level.

Godolphin’s Zapateo picked up right where she left off, securing a dominant victory in the 2022 Group 3 Toy Show Quality at Randwick. Having been placed in seven out of her eight previous starts, the James Cummings-trained mare took a well-deserved break after her successful outing in the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes at Scone on May 14. Returning to the track, Zapateo displayed an impressive burst of speed under the expert guidance of jockey Rachel King, crossing the finish line 2.5 lengths ahead of Jamaea, with Sky Command trailing closely in third place.

John Thompson’s afternoon started on a bright note when More Prophets scored a deserved win. However, tragedy struck just 40 minutes later when his promising filly Xtremetime had to be euthanased after suffering a fatal leg injury when she fell heavily in the final furlong of the Silver Shadow Stakes. Thompson’s afternoon took another, happier turn when Fituese, overcame a wide draw to score a stunning first-up victory in the Toy Show Quality. She came from the widest alley (16), and was a late pick-up for apprentice Jean Van Overmeire after Rachel King was stood down following a tumble from Brandenburg a race earlier. Fituese ($12) settled worse than midfield before unleashing her run to beat Great News ($9.50) by a neck with Tailleur ($5.50) another 1.25 lengths away.

Despite needing to lug 59kg first-up from a spell, the John Thompson-trained Sweet Deal managed to fend off his rivals to secure the Toy Show Quality. Winner of the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) first-up at Randwick in the autumn, Thompson’s classy daughter of Casino Prince was back in winning form fresh again. Jockey James McDonald said it was a brave effort by the mare who just got her nose down on the line to hold off the Kris Lees-trained lightweight Zaniah who had just 53kg on her back ridden by in-form jockey Jason Collett.

On the same day his stable star signalled her spring intentions, a horse Anthony Cummings always thought could measure up has made her mark. A couple of hours after three-year-old Libertini set Randwick alight in the Silver Shadow Stakes, her year older stablemate Mizzy claimed victory in the Group 3 Toy Show Quality. Until Saturday’s win, Mizzy had a solo victory in a maiden in February to her name but also had a Group Three placing and two Group One fourths. Cummings is noted for throwing his horses in the deep end but he admits it has taken Mizzy a little longer to rise to the top. Ridden by Tommy Berry, who was also aboard Libertini, Mizzy ($3.30) had 1.25 lengths on Soothing ($14).
