WA sensation Tommy Shelby is making the journey to Victoria today, in branded Hidez suit, for a Topgun and Melbourne Cup series campaign.
The son of Fernando Bale and Serena Fly High finished third in Friday night’s Million Dollar Chase after qualifying in the fastest time.
Tommy Shelby, who is named after the leading man in the popular Netflix series – Peaky Blinders, will be in the care of Kel Greenough during his Melbourne campaign.
“We will wait to see how he checks out with Kel and take it from there,” trainer Steve Withers said.
This is will be the first time Tommy Shelby and Steve Withers won’t be by each other side, making it an emotional time for the duo.
“I know he is in great hands in Victoria, but it doesn’t make it any easier not being there for the journey.”
Tommy Shelby received an invite to nominated for the Group 1 Topgun which will run at The Meadows on Saturday November 7.
With the nomination accepted, connections will have to wait until Tuesday 27th October on Sky Racing’s The Catching Pen, to find out if Tommy Shelby will go head-to-head with some of the best greyhounds the sport has to offer.
Tommy Shelby also has direct entry into the heats of Group 1 Melbourne Cup thanks to his victory in the State Sprint final in WA.
