A book full of strong eachway chances awaits driver Sheree Tomlinson at Oamaru on Wednesday.
The junior driver looks a huge chance of banking more donations for Harness Racing New Zealand’s Team Teal campaign with her six drives.
Tomlinson reunites with Under And Over in race 6 following the four-year-old’s powerful maiden win in his last start at Oamaru.
Though stepping out of the maiden grade into a field of experienced campaigners is never easy, Under And Over certainly won’t be lacking the ability to do so.
“He did win his maiden nicely and he is a horse that is going to go on and do a good job and win a few races,” Tomlinson said.
“But as we know it is not as easy as just stepping up in grade and winning.”
“We have got a bit of a niggly draw (12) to work with, but hopefully he will be nice and relaxed like he was last time and he will step away nice.”
Tomlinson starts her day with Go Marg in race 1.
The Bruce Graham trained mare brings solid form to her 2000m assignment including a late closing third in her last start on the track.
“She went well last time I drove her at Methven, she is really finding the line now.”
Playboy Prince has upgraded his form with two solid runs in his last two starts at Oamaru.
The credit for that could go to trainer Eion Latimer’s daughter and the nine-year-old’s part-owner, Jacqui Latimer.
“Jacqui has been taking him to a few A&P shows and he has been winning too.”
“I think the old boy likes the change of scenery and maybe he is enjoying life and he is putting in some good efforts on the track.”
Mongolian Marshal and Tomlinson bring winning trial form to race 10.
The reinswoman hopes the Graham Court trained pacer can take advantage of barrier 2 in what looks like a winnable race.
“It was just a small field at the trials and he just had a quiet run, but he hit the line quite nicely.”
“It did take him a while to get his maiden victory but he seems to be working up alright at home.
“It’s a pretty even field, hopefully with his good draw we can step quickly and be handy.”
Tomlinson also drives Lincoln Moment in race 8 following his encouraging last start fourth at Oamaru.
The Shane Matheson trained pacer looks well placed from barrier 2 with the benefit of having had two runs back this time in.
“I think Shane was quietly surprised with the way he came home last time because he thought he might have needed another run under his belt.”
“We were all quite happy with him.”
“He has got a good draw to work with and he does like the grass.”
“It looks like a pretty competitive field for him.”
Tomlinson also drives Prince Ranier for the first time in race 9.
The consistent Graeme Telfer trained four-year-old looks like another good eachway chance for the junior driver on Wednesday.
