Trent Busuttin is one trainer who will be happy to see Sydney’s wet weather continue as he prepares Forgot You (NZ) (Savabeel) to take on a trio of highly-touted locals in the Gr.1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m).
The Victorian colt was one of just nine acceptances for Saturday’s 2000 metre feature but what the field lacks in numbers it makes up for in quality.
Randwick Guineas winner Converge, top Godolphin colt Anamoe and Spring Champion Stakes victor Profondo headline the field, with Anamoe opening marginally in the red at $1.95, ahead of Converge ($3.50) who has also been paid up for the George Ryder Stakes (1500m).
Looking to bounce back from an inglorious Australian Guineas performance in Melbourne, Profondo is a $5 chance with Forgot You the only other runner under double-figure odds at $9.
The latter heads to Sydney off the back of two solid lead-up runs in Melbourne, the latest when fourth to Hitotsu in the Australian Guineas (1600m).
Busuttin has no doubt his charge will relish a distance rise, but he is hoping the track stays wet to help negate the class of his rivals.
“The wetter the better,” Busuttin said.
“It might slow down some of the brilliance of the other horses.
“We are obviously going to have to take on the big Sydney colts. Anamoe is going there, Profondo is going there but over 2000 metres, he will be thereabouts.”
Mark Zahra has partnered Forgot You in both starts this campaign and will again be aboard on Saturday.
By noted staying sire Savabeel, Forgot You is proven at the journey having won The Vase over 2040m at The Valley last spring and has won two of his four starts on rain-affected tracks.
