The Stir Up | Warrnambool Cup Edition

GRV’s Peter Quilty, Gerard Guthrie and Trent Langskaill provide their thoughts on some of the star greyhounds racing in Victoria.

Keep an eye on these, they are worth saving in your WatchDog Blackbook!

Trent  Gents, we are catching up a day early because we have the Group 2 Sportsbet Warrnambool Cup Final taking place tonight in front of hopefully a terrific crowd.

Quilts  The roar will be deafening if Aston Kalkara (Box 1) ends the 24-year local hoodoo, Trent. Dustin Drew emphasised to me that it would mean a hell of a lot if he won his hometown cup.

Gerard  Zella Bale (Box 2) is the first of two finalists for Daniel Gibbons and even though she is less decorated compared to Kelsey Bale, she is a Group 2 finalist and currently in career-best form.

Trent  Jordan Cooper has two Warrnambool Cup finalists including Crackerjack Bull (Box 3). If he replicates the run when he won his Geelong Gold Cup heat, watch out.

Quilts  Cashing Cheques (Box 4) is living up to his name for trainer Craig Treherne. He was the second-fastest heat winner, which was behind a track record-breaking performance.

Gerard  Kelsey Bale (Box 5) was the record breaker you are referring to, Quilts. What an achievement it would be if she wins her third successive country cup final for Daniel Gibbons.

Trent  Kai Bale (Box 6) is a consistent chaser for Correy Grenfell and the powerful chaser with three Premier Racing middle-distance wins could surprise if he is within striking distance.

Quilts  Crackerjack Aret (Box 7) – named after racecaller Rob Testa – is the second finalist for Jordan Cooper. This is his biggest test, but he broke the 25-second barrier in his heat.

Gerard  Jason Thompson was bitterly disappointed about scratching Unleash Collinda, but Stealth (Box 8) is a Group winner and he boasts 23 top-two finishes from 34 starts.

Trent  A great evening of Premier Racing is set to occur at Sandown Park tomorrow night. Best of luck to Tim Britton with On The Off, Wheel And Go and Play Nice in Saturday night’s final of The 715 at The Gardens.
