GRV’s Peter Quilty and Trent Langskaill provide their thoughts on some of the star greyhounds racing in Victoria.
Keep an eye on these, they are worth saving in your WatchDog Blackbook!
Quilts Trent, it’s just the two of us with Gerard enjoying a break, and we’ve got plenty to cover starting with tonight’s semi-finals of the Group 3 Launching Pad at Sandown Park.
Trent The first semi-final is a ripper, Quilts. Zara Marnie was the quickest heat winner, Starline Express has explosive early pace, and Dragon Inn has Box 1 for the first time at his eighth start.
Quilts The second semi-final should provide a brilliant duel. Blue Demon overhauled Starline Express in his heat, while Trapper Tears has been in great form since arriving in Victoria.
Trent How good are the other semi-finals? Meteor Monelli, Cruise Mode and Make No Promise all in the third semi, while Al’s Entity, Hector Fawley and Trooper Tears are in the fourth semi.
Quilts We then have five outstanding heats of the Group 2 Sportsbet Ballarat Cup tomorrow night. Paul Brown advised me that Rejuvenate is refreshed and the winner of 16 races from 19 starts headlines the first heat.
Trent The second heat is extremely competitive with Group winners Kelsey Bale and He’s No Slouch lining up against Group 1 Australian Cup runner-up Paddy Wants Pats.
Quilts There is a significant achievement in the third heat with the country cups king Ferdinand Boy having his 100th start. Dual Group placegetter Quinlan Bale and the promising Hot Scotch will provide tough opposition.
Trent The fourth heat is red-hot with The Emerald winner Unleash Collinda and Horsham Cup winner Jungle Panther. The intriguing runner is Shima Shadow at only his fifth start.
Quilts What about the clash in the fifth heat? Shepparton Cup winner Lektra Heckler is going for nine straight victories and he faces Salad Dodger, your favourite greyhound, Trent.
Trent Amron Boy and Fernando Mick at The Meadows plus Golden Easter Egg semi-finals at Wentworth Park on Saturday night and Sunday’s Group 3 Mount Gambier Cup with four VIC dogs. Bring it on!
