Businesses directly impacted by the Victorian floods that commenced in October 2022 can access a one-off grant of $5000 to cover immediate expenses. Businesses must be located within an eligible local government area and incurred significant direct damage to their place of business, business assets, stock or equipment.
Eligibility
This program supports businesses that have incurred significant direct flood damage due to the Victorian floods that commenced in October 2022.
To be eligible for a grant, businesses must:
> Be located within a local government area deemed eligible for assistance under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement
> Hold an active Australian business number (ABN) and have held that ABN on and from 14 October 2022
> Be registered for Goods and Services Tax (GST) on and from 14 October 2022
> Have incurred significant direct damage from flooding to the place of business, business assets, stock or equipment.
Examples of significant direct damage from floods could include:
> Property, business assets, stock or equipment directly damaged by flood water and clean-up or their replacement (purchase or hire) is now necessary.
> Structural damage to property, business assets, stock or equipment has occurred as a direct result of the floods and now a qualified person (e.g. tradesperson) is required to inspect (e.g. safety) or repair affected items.
> The place of business is unsafe due to direct flood damage and temporary premises are required to resume business operations
> Property, business assets, stock or equipment was swept away by flood water and their replacement is essential to resume business operations.
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria and agree to the conditions outlined in the program guidelines to be successful under the program.
Businesses will be ineligible for a grant if any information in their application is found to be deliberately false, misleading or fraudulent.

The Greater Shepparton Community Flood Emergency Campaign has been created, to raise funds for those affected by the floods and to assist with response efforts.
Greater Shepparton Foundation (GSF) will act as an independent administrator of flood relief funds, to ensure services on the ground are receiving the financial support they need.
“The Greater Shepparton Community Flood Emergency campaign will raise funds to support the needs of residents of Greater Shepparton and with the response efforts and more long-term with helping residents get back into their homes,” GSF executive officer Amanda McCulloch said.
“There will be significant long-term support required for the Greater Shepparton community, and we are seeking everyone’s help to support the immediate needs of our community and long-term with helping residents get back into their homes.”
Some of the agencies at the forefront supporting Greater Shepparton City Council’s emergency response and recovery efforts include Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project, Committee for Greater Shepparton and Shepparton Foodshare.
