Race 1
6 Lisa Marie P: Left on a limb here two starts back but fought hard for third. Now in the Williamson stable, look out.
8 Cuddly Trouble: Nearly got the chocolates when last presented in this kind of race and has to be a strong hope again.
2 Random Spur: Not the worst in a trial at Ashburton recently. Will need to trot away, but can place.
9 Pat The Monkey: Genuine enough performer for a race like this. Good beginning needed but can get into it.
Selections: 6-8-2-9
Race 2
3 Bono Brown: Nice enough when fresh up third and should only be better for that run. Has to be hard to beat today.
10 Walk All Over You: Not much really went right on debut, but overlooking that there’s a motor there and a strong hope.
6 Mack Sheer: Astute stable with a first starter always grabs the attention. Shown a bit in workouts and trials ahead of it.
5 Barika: Another first starter and another with handy and workout trial form. Should play a role in this today.
Selections: 3-10-6-5
Race 3
10 With The Stars: Punters patience will be wearing thin. There’s a win there, but it just doesn’t want to come. Today?
2 Whole Lotta Rosie: Smart stable with a trial winning debut here, that’s usually a pretty good recipe. Orange in bike too.
4 Cotton Socks: Getting better each time he lines up and comes into this with some strong each way prospects.
11 Touche: Nice run here to finish second two starts back. More than capable of getting into this with a bit of luck.
Selections: 10-2-4-11
Race 4
7 Virginia Cool: Hasn’t had the best of luck in three runs back from a spell but in here nicely with the right man in the bike.
4 Star Ruler: On speed runner who is only headed in one direction early here. Can keep them honest too.
9 Woodlea Shawn: All around it recently and this is slightly easier. Has to be an each way chance with a bit of luck.
2 Vigoroso: Good performances of late and very even field here makes him potentially another strong chance today.
Selections: 7-4-9-2
Race 5
7 Rockin Rod: Did a power of work last week at Oamaru but kept fighting all the way to the line. Looks a good bet here.
6 Sheeza Sport: All down to the stand start manners. If they are there, you’re in with a chance. More than capable.
10 Rosinupthebow: No luck at all recently but meets another even looking field and just needs things to fall her way.
5 Notaword: Did a good enough job last campaign to suggest that with improvement today a top four finish is a chance.
Selections: 7-6-10-5
Race 6
9 Springbank Lachie: Big trial run at Ashburton last week suggesting a forward run is likely here. Can win from the 20m.
6 Its Alf: A little bit under rated. Best is pretty smart and right man in the bike to make that happen today.
2 Zoned Scarlett: Jump and run sort of type who, if on the speed and doing as he likes, might not be able to be caught.
4 Sea Rover: Now in the Hoffman barn, won a trial and did it nicely too. Loves Forbury. The blowout chance.
Selections: 9-6-2-4
Race 7
7 Chiller Bay: Surely this must be the race where he gets things back on track. Has the speed and the class. Time to show it.
10 Rah De Rah: Over-raced at Ashburton but pretty good trial before that. Has to be a sneaky hope off the back row.
5 Deus Ex: Clearly talented and getting better with racing. Won’t be far away from the action today from the good draw. 1 1 A Cracker Knight: Up in grade after good maiden win. Nice draw to work from and can get home well late.
Selections: 7-10-5-1
BEST: 7 Rockin Rod (Race 5)
NEXT: 3 Bono Brown (Race 2)
VALUE: 7 Chiller Bay (Race 7)
