Race 1

2 Prospect Park: Two cracking runs to open the career. Maiden grade won’t hold for much longer and should leave today.

6 The Guild: Consistently running good races but not just not quite grabbing the victory. Another good chance here though.

8 Just Michael: Finds more bad luck than you’d like but is racing better than a maiden and has raced well here before.

7 Adhika: Not bad last time out at Methven. Getting better with racing and looks a decent each way chance here today.

Selections: 2-6-8-7

Race 2

4 Ardee Trouble: Off the unruly for this and races well on this track, especially when in front. Quick beginning and it’s game on.

5 Flying Monkey: We’ll overlook the first up run. Should strip fitter and give a pretty good sight here. More than capable.

10 DD’s Super Stuart: Smallish field suits his chances. Will probably get back but can run home strongly with half a chance.

2 Sierra Gold: Couple of efforts since quitting maidens have been handy enough. Nice chance in this field here today.

Selections: 4-5-10-2

Race 3

7 Tyron’s Bit Of Lemon: Three nice runs in good fields to open the career and should relish this assignment. Can get the money.

6 Roll The Dice: Took on a good field last time and was far from disgraced. Wearing the right colours to get the job done.

4 Burnham Boy: Showed a bit of promise with strong debut winning effort down south. This is harder but capable of figuring.

9 Dan Fernando: Nice type fresh up from a spell. Looked good enough in the first campaign and should go on with it now.

Selections: 7-6-4-9

Race 4

8 Heisenberg: Mixed it with some of the best of last season and was never far away. Looking for a big run fresh up here today.

10 Yorkshire: Raw talent, but a bit to learn still. Clinical win last time out and will give this a decent shake too.

16 Norman Richards: Going great guns without a whole heap of luck lately. This looks a little easier so an each way hope.

4 Silk: She’s got the motor and given some time after last race flop. Needs to step away, but more than capable.

Selections: 8-10-16-4

Race 5

9 You Really Got Me: Enigmatic trotter with a huge motor, but a good bag of tricks too. Trots the whole way and it’s game on.

11 Rebel Kibbybones: Did a good job fresh up and might be stronger this time in. Capable of giving this a pretty good crack.

6 Idle Stuartia: Professional win on debut and looks to have a bit of a future. Bit harder here but should measure up to them.

10 Sugar Cane: Jump and run sort of type who is fresh up. Dangerous if she’s able to get onto the speed and give them a fright.

Selections: 9-11-6-10

Race 6

1 Marcoola: Won this race last year and was huge fresh up. Perfect draw to run to the first bend and then make them chase.

5 Sundees Son: All at sea last time when the pressure went on. Brilliant when in the right frame though and can’t leave out.

6 Winterfell: Back to winning form with a big run last time out. This is a bit tougher, but should be competitive.

7 Habibi Inta: The under-rated trotter of the open class ranks. Best is very good and trainer will have him ready to rock and roll.

Selections: 1-5-6-7

Race 7

7 Ivana Flybye: Really charged to the line last time and big long straight should suit. Can get back and look to roll them late.

2 Nemera Franco: We’re still not sure how good she is, but so good winning fresh up that you couldn’t count her out here.

6 Kendra: Smart performer last season in age group racing. Has high speed and looked good in a recent trial. Not the worst here.

4 Nakuru: Fresh up today but has always been capable and gets a decent enough draw to work from. Should be right in it.

Selections: 7-2-6-4

Race 8

2 Self Assured: Exciting up and comer who was excellent fresh up behind the big guns. Another big test but classy.

9 Spankem: Chased hard from the 20m handicap last time out and was brave to the line. Will give this a decent crack here.

3 Ultimate Sniper: Fighting all the way to the line last time out and got the win. Will relish a hotly contested race here.

7 Thefixer: Went great fresh up in the Methven Cup and only going to be better for it. Another who will stay all day.

Selections: 2-9-3-7

Race 9

15 Oscar Bonavena: Not even a 40m handicap will stop him today. Too good.

13 The Dominator: Been knocking around and producing big efforts in good fields this season. Raw talent and can place.

8 Overzealous: The people’s horse back in action. Nice trial last week to ready for this and can sprint at them late with a run.

14 Valloria: Not far away in all runs back this time. Peak fitness here but giving some nice ones a start so can’t miss a beat.

Selections: 15-13-8-14

Race 10

6 Above N Beyond: Last two runs have both been excellent. On a path to Group One on Cup Day and should be winning here.

9 Jazzy Star: Local hope with a big chance of success here. Wide draw no help but has raw speed that will get him in the race.

5 I’m Tough: Did a good job last campaign and only going to be bigger and stronger this time. Fresh up but still a chance.

2 Rah De Rah: Superb trial to beat Jazzy Star here last week. Needs a nice quiet trip but can rush at them late.

Selections: 6-9-5-2

BEST: 1 Marcoola (Race 6)

NEXT: 2 Prospect Park (Race 1)

VALUE: 16 Norman Richards (Race 4)
