Young jockey Teo Nugent has suffered a nasty fall in Saturday’s Listed Abell Stakes at Moonee Valley on All Star Mile Day.
The Group 1 winning hoop was aboard the Amy & Ash Yargi-trained Florescent Star when the pair struck trouble on the home turn in the 1200m sprint.
The pair looked to have trying to take a run that had not fully appeared and unfortunately for rider and horse, they were separated.
Nugent’s fall is the third fall in as many weeks following Ethan Brown and Mark Zahra falling in the Australian Guineas and Jamie Kah and Craig Williams being dislodged in last weeks VRC Sires Produce Stakes at Flemington.
It was reported pretty quickly afterwards, that Nugent was in and out of consciousness and that early signs were “good” according to David Eustace.
As result of the fall, Moonee Valley is in an indefinite delay as Nugent waits to be transported to hospital.
Teo Nugent is being transferred to hospital following a fall in Race 6 at The Valley. Teo is currently conscious and chatting to medical staff and has been moving his limbs. Further updates to follow.
