The $100,000 Taree Gold Cup (2000m) headlines the action at Manning Valley Race Club on Friday afternoon, with a competitive eight-part program set for decision. The track should play fair throughout the day with the rail placed in the true position, however, with surface rated a Heavy 8 at the time of acceptances, it should be testing conditions for all participants. All the action is scheduled to get underway at 1pm loca time.
Taree Gold Cup Tip: Fay’s Angels
Fay’s Angel is on the one-week backup after a terrific effort behind Medatsu at Rosehill on October 12. The daughter of Anacheeva has continued to improve with every start and appears perfectly placed back in country grade. Madeline Owen gets legged aboard from barrier seven this time around, and with the five-year-old already boasting a victory at this course and distance in the past, Fay’s Angel will prove hard to hold out in the 2024 Taree Gold Cup.

Best Bet at Taree: Flame Of Hestia
The Kris Lees-trained Flame Of Hestia was disappointing in her only start last preparation, finishing five lengths away behind Hallett on the Kensington circuit at Randwick on March 13. She appears to be returning a more furnished filly, however, with back-to-back barrier trial victories having her poised for a first-up assault. Dylan Gibbons takes the reins from barrier one in this super maiden, and with every chance to take luck of the equation and lead, Flame Of Hestia will take plenty of chasing down in an attempt justify the short price with horse racing bookmakers.

Next Best at Taree: Bonding
Bonding only found one better on debut in the form of How Rude at Muswellbrook on October 7, and although she was beaten as a short-priced favourite, it’s worth following the Snitzel mare. The pair cleared out by 2.5 lengths on the remaining rivals, suggesting the top two still have plenty of upside moving deeper into the preparation. Ashley Morgan will have some work to do navigating a passage from barrier 13, however, provided he can slot her in for cover in the middle stages, Bonding should be storming over the top in the Taree opener.
