The running of the $200,000 Tamworth Cup (1400m) is the highlight of this Friday’s eight-race program at Tamworth, which kicks off at 12:30pm AEST. Ideal conditions are on the agenda, with the track rated a Good 4 and the rail in the true position for the entire course. HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst shares his best bets and quaddie picks for the afternoon, including a tip in the feature.
Tamworth Cup Best Bet – Kinloch
As you would expect, it is a very competitive race the Tamworth Cup, but winning form is good form and that is where we are looking. Kris Lees saddles up Kinloch, who is chasing a hat-trick of wins after claiming the $500,000 Provincial-Midway Championships Final (1400m) at Randwick on Day Two of The Championships. The horse was lifted over the line by Nash Rawiller with 56kg on his back on a Heavy 10, so he should appreciate getting back to a Good 4 and down to just 54kg on his back under Dylan Gibbons. The son of I Am Invincible looks very well placed in this race.

Tamworth Best Bet – Wenet
Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott saddle up Wenet in the sixth event on the program, a three-year-old filly by American Pharoah. Having won back-to-back races last preparation, the filly failed on a Heavy 10 at Canterbury at the end of the campaign, running last behind the handy Jump The Broom. She finished last in her first trial back on a Heavy 8, before beating just one home on a synthetic track trial behind Kubrick. On Friday, Wenet will be first up on a fast Good 4 track, so we are hoping that we will see the best from this filly. Winona Costin will take her to the front from barrier four and prove hard to run down over 1200m.

Race 6 – #3 Wenet (4)

Tamworth Best Value – Una Grew Roses
We liked the debut win of Una Grew Roses at Wyong over 1100m when leading all of the way to win by three tenths of a length. Trainer Stephen Jones took the grey four-year-old to Muswellbrook where she contested a 900m Class 1 and they simply ran her off her legs which saw her run 6th. Now back up in trip to 1000m and drawn well in barrier five, we can see the daughter of Swiss Ace back to her best. Aaron Bullock will do the riding for the first time, so he can get her to settle nicely from in front and get the best out of her.

Race 8 – #5 Una Grew Roses (5)
