If trial form is anything to go by, Sunday’s two-year-old trot at Ashburton will be a form race of the future.
After burning up the trials track recently, several talented debutantes will go head-to-head in a 1700m dash.
Among them is the Brad Williamson trained first starter, Kracka Looka.
The two-year-old will be out to complete a treble for Williamson and his owners, the All Things Harness Racing group.
The combination produced two wins at Winton on Friday with Krackaling and Classic Mission both running to victories.
Kracka Looka has the talent to land a hat-trick, but it will depend on how she handles the pressure of race day.
“She is a really nice horse and I think she is going to do a good job,” Williamson said.
“She is inexperienced and quite green, but she certainly has a bit of her mother’s (Alderbeck) ability.”
Though Williamson is certain Kracka Looka has the motor to make big races, he is not yet sure it will be as a two-year-old.
“I am not sure whether she will race on as a two-year-old, this race is probably going to tell us a lot.”
“Obviously Dad (Phil Williamson) has stepped out some nice two-year-olds and there are a few others about.”
“We will get a bit of a line on how she is going to measure up with this run.”
Greg, Nina and Ben Hope will give Freya her first start in Sunday’s highly anticipated juvenile trot.
The two-year-old brings excellent trial form to her debut and she starts inside Kracka Looka (7) in barrier 3.
“We really like her, she is a nice filly and if she brings her A-game first up she should run quite a good race,” Ben Hope said.
The Tom Bagrie trained Hoppy beat home Freya in their latest trials though neither horse was pushed hard in the run home.
All Stars youngster Look To Da Stars and the Katie Cox trained Lotties Moment also debut in race 2 on Sunday.
