Geelong spearhead Tom Hawkins has been a ‘titan’ in the goal square for the Cats this season.
“Tomahawk” has bagged 46 ‘majors’ in 19 matches at an average of 2.4 goals a game. He should play a big role in Cam Guthrie’s 200th game.
Meanwhile, the aptly named Aston Titan has been making an impression in greyhound racing circles.
Trained by Anthony Azzopardi, Aston Titan – a G3 Bob Payne Sprint finalist at Wentworth Park in May – has won 13 races from 36 starts. He also won the Autumn Classic at Ballarat and was a Shepparton Classic finalist.
And last week, he returned from a six-week hiatus with a dazzling 22.03sec win over 390m at Warrnambool.
So, in this ‘tale of two titans’, you can imagine Geelong fans would be “smiling like the cat that got the cream” if TAB’s $5.00 AFL/Greys offer comes off tonight for Hawkins to kick 3+ goals against the GWS Giants and Aston Titan to score at Geelong.
Geelong (15-4) takes on a depleted GWS Giants (8-10) outfit at GMHBA Stadium and are very short-priced favourites to win and remain in the hunt for the minor premiership.
The Giants have been on the road for some time due to lockdown in NSW and have lost seven top line players for this match.
Aston Titan (Jan ’19 Fernando Bale x Fantastic Dotty) is TAB’s $1.80 favourite in a Grade 5 over 400m.
The Geelong Cats vs GWS Giants clash at GMHBA Stadium commences at 7.50pm, while Aston Titan is in Race 7 Box 6 at 9.05pm.
WATCH: Aston Titan (5) resumes with a flying 22.03sec win over 390m at Warrnambool last week.
