Sunshine Coast Turf Club will host a competitive seven-race program this Friday night. With rain forecast to fall on Thursday and Friday, there is little chance that the track will improve much from the Heavy 10 rating on Wednesday. The rail will go back into the True position, with the opening race scheduled to jump at 6:08pm AEST.
Best Bet at Sunshine Coast: Sacred Mission
We will have to wait until the final race to see our best bet go around, as the David Vandyke-trained Sacred Mission will compete in the Class 3 Handicap over 1800m. This four-year-old gelding was a dominant winner two starts back at Doomben before stepping up sharply in grade to finish ninth of 13 in The Wave at the Gold Coast last start. This son of Sacred Falls was outclassed in his most recent run, so we are willing to forgive him for that and back this talented stayer to return to the winner’s circle with a dominant front-running performance on Friday.
Best Bet
Race 7 – #1 Sacred Mission (5)
4yo Gelding | T: David Vandyke | J: Ryan Maloney (60kg)

Next Best at Sunshine Coast: Luvarchie
Luvarchie from the Billy Healy yard will be seeking to break his maiden in the opening event at the Sunshine Coast, after finishing in the placings at his last three starts. This son of Sooboog pulled up with heat stress and slow recovery after his most recent third-place finish at this track and trip, but he has been sent back to the trials, where he won an 850m contest. This race appears to be weaker than his previous starts, and with James Orman on board, it looks like the right race for him to break through. As the likely leader with little pressure expected, Luvarchie should be able to cross the field and lead all the way.
Next Best
Race 1 – #1 Luvarchie (9)
4yo Gelding | T: Billy Healy | J: James Orman (60kg)

Best Value at Sunshine Coast: Shadowen
Ex-Godolphin-trained galloper Shadowen will be making her Queensland debut for new trainer Nick Walsh, coming off the back of a 5.5-length trial victory at Rockhampton on January 3 over 900m. From her four career starts in Victoria, this daughter of Brazen Beau finished in the placings twice and was a little unlucky at her most recent start at Benalla over 1206m. After a change of scenery and a four-month spell, we expect that this three-year-old filly will be ready to go first-up on Friday. There looks to be a lot of speed in this race, so Shadowen will settle worse than midfield and run on strong.
Best Value
Race 4 – #14 Shadowen (11)
3yo Filly | T: Nick Walsh | J: Jim Byrne (55kg)
