Staying future for son of Contributer

Contributer four-year-old Dhakuri was successful over 1850m at Newcastle on Friday for Godolphin and looks to have a bright future over ground.

The James Cummings-trained gelding ran out a ready winner under a push button Christian Reith ride to notch his second win from nine career starts.

A flashy-type, Dhakuri bares some resemblance to his Mapperley Stud sire Contributer, a multiple Group One winning son of High Chaparral.

“His Dad was probably a bit stockier than him but he is a big leggy type that is starting to grow into himself,” stable representative Darren Beadman said.

“Christian rode him well, he didn’t rush him into the first corner and balanced him up. He got nice cover down the back from the headwind and he produced him at the right time. It was a good solid win.

“James took him up to Queensland in the middle of year and he was able to give him a trip away.

“He was quite a hot horse when he was younger but he has started to mature nicely now. There should be a couple of nice races for him over the carnival.”
