Daniel Stackhouse celebrated an impressive milestone at Pakenham on Tuesday, riding his 1000th winner on Australian soil.
The New Zealand-born jockey moved to Australia in 2010 and has become one of Victoria’s leading riders, with win number 1000 also extending his lead in the premiership standings ahead of John Allen.
Stackhouse steered three-year-old gelding Tradeworx ($10) home in the opening race over 2200m for trainer Daniel Kelly.
“This is my thousandth winner in Australia, so it was a big thrill actually to ride a winner for Dan and also Alana (Kelly),” Stackhouse said.
