Hong Kong racing heads to Sha Tin on Saturday afternoon with a very competitive 10-race program lined up. It’s a meeting with two races on the all-weather circuit, while the other eight will be run on the turf course with the rail in the C position. There are some scattered showers and thunderstorms forecast leading into the weekend, so keep an eye on the radar and expect a possible downgrade to a yielding surface. The first race is scheduled for 4pm HKT (6pm AEST).
Best Bet: Erimo
Erimo has found himself in a rich vein of form on the all-weather circuit and will be looking for his second win from three starts on the surface. He won two starts back over the 1650m on May 10 and was sensational when scoring a dominant four-length victory. He meets a very similar field to what he met on that occasion, and although his rivals get a significant swing in the weights, we don’t think it’ll be enough to get past him on Saturday. Erimo draws to find the leaders back throughout and even with the extra 150m for his opposition to chase him down, Erimo should be able to stay out them to the line.

Next Best: Dream Winner
Dream Winner produced one of the most dominate displays by a debutant this Hong Kong racing season and we think he can make it back-to-back wins to start his career. He dismantled his opposition on May 21 down the Sha Tin straight 1000m in Class 4 clearing out by 5.3 lengths, and the handicapper didn’t miss him either, giving him 12 ratings points for his trouble forcing Dream Winner into Class 3 company. He does drop 4kgs for his trouble though and based on his outstanding win, provided this son of Exosphere takes a step forward for trainer Frankie Lor, Dream Winner should take a power of beating.

Next Best Again: Tuchel
We were with Tuchel last time he stepped out and we see no reason why he can’t get the job done again. His win on May 21 was a terrific effort to pick up the tear away leader over the 1600m, going on to win by a half-length on the line. Flaming Rabbit looked to have pinched a big enough break on his rivals on that occasion, but Tuchel’s toughness and willingness to get the head down were impressive to behold. He now finds himself at the top of the weights in Class 2 company, and while the handicapper may be catching up with this son of Redwood, this seems like a cracking grand final to finish a long preparation for Tuchel. Zac Purton takes the mount again and with barrier four expect him to find the one-one throughout the contest. Tuchel continues to thrive during this four-year-old season, and he deserves another win to add on the resume.
