Second Manawatu meeting confirmed for Sunday – Box Seat Update

Manawatu will get a replacement meeting this Sunday, after Tuesday’s meeting was abandoned because of Cyclone Gabrielle.

It’s been confirmed there will be a noon start with a minimum of six and a maximum of eight races.

“I would strongly encourage all trainers and owners to support this new day,” says Harness Racing New Zealand General Manager – Racing, Catherine McDonald, “as it’s a great opportunity for the club to have a meeting on a Sunday, so the fuller the fields the better.”

Manawatu also has a seven race programme starting at 4.54pm tomorrow (Thursday).

The TAB agreed to the additional meeting after Sunday’s thoroughbred meeting at Hastings was abandoned, following this week’s extensive flooding and widespread damage in Hawke’s Bay.

Nominations for the meeting will close at 9am Friday, with withdrawals closing at 10am.

Confirmation of the meeting means it will be a very busy weekend for the sport, with Cambridge and Addington on Friday night, Rangiora on Saturday and now Gore and Manawatu on Sunday.

Box Seat Update

Due to the production of the Box Seat being based in Hawkes Bay harness racing’s weekly show will be available later than originally planned. Recording has been put back a day. The show will be available from late afternoon Thursday on Youtube and www.hrnz.co.nz.

The first play on Trackside will be at midnight on Thursday night. Check your guides for times.
