Scone will play host to seven races on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst has found a couple of best bets and a quaddie for the day. The track is rated a Heavy 9 and the rail is in the true position for the entire course, with the meeting set to get underway at 1:20pm AEST.
Best Bet at Scone – Casino Lord
Maybe Casino Lord is an exception because he is yet to win on the wet despite being by Casino Prince, but we are confident he can buck that trend on Tuesday when he steps out in a 1000m scamper. The five-year-old is ultra-consistent, finishing in the first three past the post in eight of his 13 career starts. When resuming back in June, the Cody Morgan-trained gelding charged late to just miss over 1000m, before not having a great deal of luck in his second-up run in late July at Tamworth. Now about six weeks between runs and back significantly in grade, Casino Lord should be going close to winning under Bailey Wheeler.

Next Best at Scone – Russian Standard
Cody Morgan looks in for a good afternoon at Scone, and we are confident he can open his account early on in the day when the odds-on favourite Russian Standard steps out in the third. The four-year-old gelding is yet to win from six starts, but four minor placings – including a 0.23-length defeat last time out – should set him up nicely to win in his second run for the preparation. The son of Capitalist has placed three times on rain-affected tracks, so the Heavy 9 shouldn’t be too uncomfortable for him, while barrier two will allow Matthew Palmer to hold a positive position in the run. This is his race to lose.
Next Best
Race 3 – #8 Russian Standard (2)
4yo Gelding | T: Cody Morgan | J: Matthew Palmer (59kg)

Best Value at Scone – Lovemetender
John Ramsey’s mare Lovemetender is the clear class of the field in the last race of the day. She has run fairly in a number of Group races, including a five-length defeat in the 2021 Group 1 Flight Stakes. The four-year-old by Testa Rossa hasn’t won since her maiden victory, but she should be really fit coming into this second-up assignment after a good trial between her first-up run and this. With apprentice hoop Chelsea Hiller claiming 4kg, Lovemetender should be able to get the job done in a race like this with 56.5kg on her back.

Race 7 – #1 Lovemetender (10)
