We head to Scone Race Club to start our punting week on Monday afternoon for a seven-race program full of big fields and some competitive racing. We’ve got a Soft 6 track listed, but with some clearing weather prior to race-day we’re likely to be racing nearer to a Good 4 come the first, scheduled for 1:15pm AEDT. The rail is out +3m from the 800m marker to winning post and should race fairly, let’s find some winners.
Scones Best Bet: Melody Again
Melody Again looks a clear best of the day on Monday afternoon in the second race on the card. She comes here for her first career start for the Scott Singleton yard after trialling the house down at Muswellbrook on October 30 winning by 0.4 lengths, but to the eye was much more impressive. She sat worse than mid-field turning for home and without much riding at all peeled to the outside before powering home under here own steam to score. She’s on the quick back up and we think they must have a big opinion of her to send her straight to the races just seven days later. Mitchell Bell rode Melody Again in the trial and elects to stick with the filly by Your Song, you can’t always be sure the trials will translate to the same effectiveness on race-day, but if she runs up to that trial, Melody Again will take a power of beating.

Next Best Bet: African Daisy
We head to race four on the card to find our next best of the day in the form of Annabel Neasham-trained mare African Daisy. She’s first-up after a 142-day spell and looks to have trialled well enough heading into her third campaign with a nice tick-over trial behind Taraashoq on October 21 asked for little effort to be beaten by 2.8 lengths. Her form last preparation reads strongly in this class with runs behind Naval Seal and Willinga Rufio at Rosehill on June 4 and June 18 respectively. The only danger in this field looks to be the second favourite elect Transformation, but with African Daisy pressing forward from the soft draw, we should get a head start heading for home in this 1400m contest.
Next Best
Race 4 – #1 African Daisy (5)

Best Value Bet: Righteous Feeling
Brett Cavanough trains this mare by Zed and looks a terrific each-way bet on Monday afternoon. Righteous Feeling is second-up and looks ready to break his maiden in what looks a wide-open contest over the 1600m. His first-up run behind Shubick on October 29 was better than the 5.5 length margin suggested, he missed the start and with 300m to go simply ran his own race under a hold going to the line. The step up in trip to 1600m looks ideal and with a wide gate Grant Buckley will drop him back in the field and when asked look to hit the line strongly again, this time to victory at a great price with top online bookmakers.

Race 3 – #7 Righteous Feeling (14)
