Brisbane Racing Club will host a very competitive nine-race card out of Eagle Farm Racecourse this Saturday afternoon. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, but with warm weather and no rain forecast for Friday and Saturday, we expect the meeting to be run on a perfect Good 4 surface. The rail will be in the +3m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 11:28am AEST.
Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Kanazawa
On debut for his new stable last start, Kanazawa ran a bold race and finished third behind Hatchet in a Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1200m on July 8. Now under the care Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted, this four-year-old gelding brings strong form from Sydney when under the care of James Cummings. This son of Lonhro has shown he can run on from the back of the field or settle on-speed to win races. Cejay Graham retains the ride and takes 2kg off his back, and if she can find a nice position better than midfield, Kanazawa will prove very hard to beat.

Next Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Galifianakis
The Jack Bruce-trained Galifianakis was one of the eye-catchers out of the Doomben meeting on July 12, rattling home from the back of the field to finish fourth over 1630m. After drawing wide barriers first- and second-up, the jockeys have had no choice but to settle deep and run on. However, Galifianakis has drawn barrier six this Saturday, so James Orman should be able to push forward on this son of Dandy Man and settle in the first two. With two runs under his belt for the preparation, this guy should be at peak fitness now and ready to show his best over a more suitable distance.

Best Value at Eagle Farm: Fleetwood Maca
Fleetwood Maca ran into a good one last start when she finished fifth behind Blaze A Trial, beaten by 2.4 lengths at this track and trip on July 15. This five-year-old settled on-speed from a nice barrier and looked to challenge the race favourite and eventual winner, before fading slightly due to the six-week break between runs. Now she drops back in grade from open company to Benchmark 85. Jaden Lloyd will be legged aboard, seeking his third win at his fourth side on the Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted-trained mare.
