The Group 3 B.J. McLachlan Stakes will headline a massive 10-race card at Eagle Farm Racecourse this Saturday afternoon. Plenty of rain is forecast for the Brisbane area on Friday and Saturday, and even though the track is rated a Good 4 on Thursday, the meeting is expected to get underway on Soft to Heavy ground. The rail will be pushed out to the +4m position for the entire circuit, with the opening race scheduled to jump at 12:13pm AEST.
B.J. McLachlan Stakes Tip: Storm Boy
Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott send their exciting two-year-old colt Storm Boy to Eagle Farm for his second career start. The favourite for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic was a dominant winner on debut at Rosehill, where he defeated Traffic Warden by 2.3 lengths over 1100m on December 2. Since then, the runner-up has franked the form with a strong win at Caulfield. From barrier five, Adam Hyeronimus should have no trouble crossing the field to take the lead and run the race to suit.

Bernborough Plate Tip: Acquitted
Acquitted has started this preparation in great style, recording a second-place finish at Newcastle first-up before winning easily second-up in the Listed Tails Stakes at Doomben on December 2. This son of Night Of Thunder will stay at the mile and should be at peak fitness third-up. James Orman has retained the ride, and from barrier seven, he should be able to settle in a similar position midfield and run over the top of his rivals late.

Falvelon Tip: Legal Esprit
Legal Esprit stuck on well to finish third behind Zoustyle in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes last start at Doomben. This five-year-old gelding is third-up this weekend and drops back to Listed grade, yet he will only carry 54kg and should get a great run behind a hot speed from barrier seven. If Robbie Dolan can settle off the rail in the first five or six, Legal Esprit will make his presence felt late at a great each-way price with top betting sites.

Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Bezique
In the penultimate, Bezique will be seeking a hat-trick of wins to kick off her third racing preparation. Last time out, this daughter of Spirit Of Boom saluted as a heavily backed favourite at Doomben over 1200m on December 8. Ben Thompson has ridden the four-year-old mare in both of her starts this time in and knows her very well. With little to no speed influences in this race, Bezique should be able to settle in the top two before clicking it up at the top of the straight to pull away late.

Next Best at Eagle Farm: Ultimate Outcome
Ultimate Outcome has finished inside the top four in four of his five starts this prepartion, including a win three starts back over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast. Last start, the Stuart Kendrick-trained galloper ran on strongly from the back of the field to finish fourth behind Crazy Brave at the Sunshine Coast, so he should appreciate the step up to 1600m now that he is at peak fitness. Ben Thompson will look to settle closer to the speed from barrier four, and if he gets even luck in the straight, Ultimate Outcome will play a prominent role in the finish.
