Eagle Farm racing tips

What Eagle Farm Races
Where Eagle Farm Racecourse – 230 Lancaster Rd, Ascot QLD 4007
When Saturday, October 1, 2022
First Race 11:58am AEST

Saturday metropolitan racing in Brisbane returns to Eagle Farm today with a very competitive nine-race card. The track is currently rated a Good 4, and with only a small amount of rain around in the forecast, we should be on a very fair surface on raceday. The rail will be in the true position for the entire circuit, while racing kicks off at 11:58am AEST.

Best Bet: Mob Buster

Our best bet of the day will be in race eight, where the Kelly Schweida-trained Mob Buster takes his place in a Benchmark 90 Handicap over 1600m. This five-year-old gelding has won his last two starts at 1400m and 1600m at Eagle Farm and Doomben, respectively, winning those races by a combined total of 0.4 lengths. This son of Spill The Beans has won five of his 15 starts, and he has a good record at this track with two wins and two minor placings from five starts. Ryan Maloney will take the ride today, and if he can be midfield from the jump and hitting the outside on the home turn, we should see Mob Buster getting the chocolates again.

Next Best Bet: Fetch

The Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted-trained Fetch will be our next best bet of the day in a Benchmark 75 Handicap over 1000m. This four-year-old mare has been very good in her first nine starts to date in her career, recording four wins and two minor placings. In her two most recent runs, this daughter of Sebring has been in the top two, with a victory at this track and trip on August 3. Ben Thompson will continue his strong affiliation with this girl after piloting this mare to her last six starts, and he will hopefully have her on pace before proving too good over the concluding stages.

Best Value Bet: King Klaus

In what seems to be the most competitive race of the day, we believe there is some value to be found by siding with King Klaus at $8.50 with online bookmakers. This Gary Clem-trained gelding has an outstanding fresh record with three wins and one minor placing from five first-up runs, while also recording seven victories out of 14 starts at the 1000m. The favourite, Weona Smartone, will be very short and hard to beat but he has to carry the top weight of 58.5kg, which he has not done before. If Jason Taylor can be just off the pace with some cover going into the straight, this son of Love Conquers All will be very hard to beat.
