The $125,000 Miss Andretti Stakes will headline the nine-race program at Ascot Racecourse this Saturday afternoon. With hot weather forecast across the weekend, the track will stay in the Good range for the whole meeting. The rail will be pushed out to the +6m position for the entire circuit, which should play favourably to on-speed runners.
The opening race at Ascot is scheduled to jump at 1pm AWST.
Miss Andretti Stakes Tip: Wild Belle
We were with the Luke Fernie-trained Wild Belle when she was very unlucky and probably should have won the Summer Scorcher if it wasn’t for her running up backsides for most of the home straight. This four-year-old mare was first-up in her most recent start, and she settled near last before running home through the middle of the field, where she was held up twice and went over the line hard held. With even luck and a similar finishing burst in the Miss Andretti Stakes on Saturday, Wild Belle should be winning.

Best Bet at Ascot: Upper Limits
Upper Limits has turned in two solid performances since returning from a five-month spell, finishing third in both races, beaten a combined 1.5 lengths. The Jeremy Easthope-trained gelding was very unlucky at his most recent start, where he was taking ground off the leaders quickly but was made to race in tight room over the concluding stages. This son of Exosphere should get a great run from barrier five, and Jarrad Noske will look to follow the speed and get a cart into the home straight. If Upper Limits gets clear air and an unimpeded run from the 300m mark, he will prove hard to hold out.

Next Best at Ascot: Rear Admiral
From four starts this preparation, Rear Admiral hasn’t finished outside the top four, with all her runs coming in a tougher grade than what she will contest on Saturday. The Sean & Jake Casey-trained mare will race in a One-Metro-Win Handicap, dropping back from 2YO+ Open grade last start, when she was beaten by Stormchaser on January 1. This daughter of Astern will gain the services of 1.5kg claiming apprentice Kershaw Dhurun, which will get her in very well at the weights. From barrier five, Rear Admiral should lob in the one-one position and get every chance to break through for her first win of the campaign.

Best Value at Ascot: Leniency
Leniency returned from a seven-month spell with an impressive third-place finish behind Playthatfunkymusic before a slightly disappointing performance second-up over 1200m at this track. At his most recent start, the Colin Webster-trained galloper settled near last and attempted to work his way through the pack but was tightened for room multiple times in the home straight. We are willing to forget that unlucky run second-up and side with this son of Safeguard when at peak fitness third-up. With good speed expected in this contest, Leniency should appreciate the tempo and finish off strong down the outside in the concluding stages.
