Sandown Racecourse will host an eight-race program on Wednesday on a predicted Soft 6 surface with the rail out four metres for the entirety of the Lakeside circuit. The meeting is scheduled to get underway at 12:25pm AEST, the quaddie starts in race five at 2:45pm, and the last race is set for 4:30pm. The fields are very competitive and there should be some nice odds around for fancied runners.
SANDOWN BEST BET: CHAIN
We feel that this Exosphere x Iridescente gelding showed enough in his last campaign. He is first-up here after almost four months but has had three recent jumpouts. He won his last jumpout at Flemington and he has placed twice on Soft ground, so we aren’t really worried about the track. Before being spelled it was a good win at Sandown Hillside after settling on speed, so from the wide barrier, we think Brett Prebble will steer her forward again. Her last start on Soft ground resulted in a good second at Pakenham, beaten less than a length, and we think she is the one to beat here.

NEXT BEST AT SANDOWN: MEDIEVAL MISS
This six-year-old mare comes back from South Australia after running seventh on similar surface at Morphettville. Before that his two runs were fair in harder company, and with a slight drop in class we think she can improve for trainer Patrick Payne. Her form on the Soft and Heavy is just OK, but she can run on it. We are getting decent each-way odds with online bookmakers, and Payne will have her cherry ripe now over the 2100m. Chatelaine has won his last two starts back from a spell and will have to be respected.

SANDOWN VALUE BET: VICI
This five-year-old gelding from the Wendy Kelly stable has drawn poorly in 14, but we think he will improve after failing at Caulfield last start (14th). Despite finishing second last in that event, he was beaten just over four lengths, while he has been freshened for this. His best run of late came on March 29 at Benalla when he saluted with Craig Newitt on top. He usually settles on pace, and we can expect Daniel Stackhouse to be positive from the barrier. Vici has won five times from 22 starts, which is a good strike rate, so he is well worth a play at juicy double-figure odds. Sixbysixtythree will be hard to beat for in-form trainer Patrick Payne.
