Melbourne Racing Club will host an eight-race program on the Lakeside track at Sandown this Wednesday afternoon. The track was rated as a Good 4 at the time of acceptances, but with a good amount of rain forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, the surface may worsen into the Soft range. The rail will be pushed out to the +9m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 1pm AEST.
Best Bet at Sandown: Preferential
Preferential has been racing well this preparation, recording two wins for the Ben, Will & JD Hayes stable and she will step up to 2400m for the second time in four starts on Wednesday. The daughter of Preferment settled behind the speed and tried to catch the leaders napping last start before being run over halfway down the home straight. Now that she drops back in grade to a Benchmark 64 and rises in trip, Preferential will prove very hard to beat.
Best Bet
Race 4 – #4 Preferential (10)

Next Best at Sandown: Kahhof
John Moloney and Mark Zahra will combine with Kahhof, who will return from a 20-week spell with the benefit of one quiet trial in the lead-up. This son of Pierro ended last preparation with an impressive win at this track over 1400m, when he had to overcome traffic in the home straight and should have won by further. With Zahra jumping aboard for his first ride on this guy, it is expected that he will settle in a perfect position and get every chance to win first-up.
Next Best
Race 5 – #8 Kahhof (6)

Best Value at Sandown: Way Up High
Way Up High recorded the best last 200m section of the race when she returned from a 10-week freshen over 1600m at this track and trip on August 7. The Dan O’Sullivan-trained mare settled last for most of the journey and started to pick her way through the field to finish in fifth place, beaten 2.4 lengths by Aiming. This daughter of Last Typhoon will appreciate a rise in trip to 2000m second-up, and at +900 with online bookmakers, Way Up High is a great each-way bet.
Best Value
Race 3 – #5 Way Up High (1)
6yo Mare | T: Dan O’Sullivan | J: Zac Spain (59kg)
