Racing returns to Sandown on Wednesday afternoon for the Lakeside track’s second meeting in the space of four days. Clear skies are forecast throughout the event, which suggests the Good 4 rating will likely hold, while the rail comes out 3m for the entire circuit. The first race is set to commence at 3:40pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Sandown: Scottie’s Legacy
Scottie’s Legacy is the definition of a mare in from, winning twice and finishing second twice in her four runs this campaign. The four-year-old Almanzor progeny had to sustain a long run to score at Yarra Valley last time out, and despite winning by the barest of margins, she was strong through the line over 1950m. She steps up to 2400m for the first time in her career, but if Scottie’s Legacy produces anything close to what she has recently, the extra distance will only benefit her.

Next Best at Sandown: Our Queen
Our Queen returns to the racetrack for the first time since her dominant debut victory at Bendigo on June 27. That maiden has produced seven subsequent winners, and she won that race by leading throughout in fast time. Craig Williams from barrier two will have no issue holding the rail, and if Our Queen is ready to go after that long layoff, she should be winning again.

Best Value at Sandown: Street Elite
Street Elite has been racing well without winning but gets his chance to break through in the Sandown finale. The five-year-old gelding has finished third in his last three starts after kicking off his campaign with a narrow loss to Intrepid Eagle at Caulfield in December. Barrier 13 is offset by his want to settle towards the rear of the field, and with this 1200m BM70 expected to be run at a genuine clip, the race sets up nicely for Street Elite to be charging home down the heart of the track.
