We are racing on the Lakeside circuit at Sandown on Easter Monday where an eight-race meeting is scheduled to be run and won. Horsebetting’s Victorian tipping expert has found a couple of best bets in a bid to end the Easter long weekend on a winning note. We’re set to be racing on a Good 4, with the rail out 4m the entire circuit, whilst racing is set to commence at 12:50pm AEST.
Best Bet at Sandown – Versilia
Having won her last two starts, the Danny O’Brien-trained Versilia looks well-placed to bring up a third successive win at the 1400m. Having gained the suck run in transit at Pakenham in a Class 1 event, the Snitzel mare was quick to put her rivals away and draws to gain a similar run on Monday from the one-one. She is yet to finish outside of the top two on firmer decks and outside of bad luck, we expect Versilia will be too good for this lot. The $2.70 on offer with online betting sites looks to be a late Easter treat to load into.
Best Bet
Race 4 – #4 Versilia (5)

Next Best at Sandown – Austrata
Having brought up a deserving victory last time out at the Sandown Hillside 1800m, the Chris Waller-trained Austrata clearly looks one of the better bets on Monday when he steps up to the 2100m. The writing was on the wall prior to that win, having put together three straight minor placings behind the likes of Gentleman Roy & Jesta Dreama which is more than good enough form to stack up in a field like this. From barrier six, we expect Jamie Kah to have the chestnut gelding settled midfield with cover where he can then build through the gears. If Austrata can see the 2100m out, the $4 with online bookmakers is a great price.
Next Best
Race 6 – #13 Chill With Teejay (6)
5yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: Jamie Kah (56kg)
$4 with Palmerbet
Best Value at Sandown – Zerelle
The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained Zerelle began his campaign with consecutive wins, before stepping up in company when struggling in the Group 1 Australian Guineas and then again in the Mornington Guineas. The Snitzel gelding steps back to BM70 grade, the type of company he put 1.5 lengths on in dominant fashion at The Valley three starts back after dictating terms throughout. Despite there being plenty of early speed in the race, we expect Damien Oliver to have the gelding out in front setting a genuine tempo and with race fitness on his side, Zerelle should prove too hard to run down at a nice price.
Best Value
Race 7 – #12 Zerelle (12)
5yo Gelding | T: Richard Cully | J: Tahlia Hope (54kg)
