The Lakeside track at Sandown is in action on Wednesday afternoon, with a competitive eight-race metropolitan meeting set down for decision. Clear but autumnal weather is forecast, meaning the track should remain a Good 4 throughout the day, while the rail will be out 3m for the entire circuit. The first event is set to jump at 1pm AEST, and below are our free Sandown betting tips for April 9.
Best Bet at Sandown: She’s A Hustler
With three wins and two seconds from five starts, She’s A Hustler simply does not know how to run a poor race. The four-year-old mare got the job done over 1800m as an odds-on favourite with horse racing bookmakers on March 12 on the Sandown Hillside track and looks like she will appreciate every bit of the 2100m this time around. Jordan Childs will likely have her settled in the first four, and when asked for the ultimate effort, She’s A Hustler should have a class edge on her rivals.
Best Bet
Race 8 – #9 She’s A Hustler (7)
4yo Mare | T: Grahame Begg | J: Jordan Childs (58.5kg)
Next Best at Sandown: Heavenly Shades
Heavenly Shades was massive in defeat when stepping out of maiden grade into BM70 company and finishing 1.4 lengths off the in-form Bossy Benita on the Hillside track on March 19. The I Am Invincible filly was forced to travel three wide with no cover at the rear of the field but still had the audacity to hit the line strongly and was arguably the run of the race. She broke her maiden in stylish fashion by 3.8 lengths the start prior when running on strongly from the back, and the recipe for success should be similar on Wednesday.
Next Best
Race 6 – #13 Heavenly Shades (4)
3yo Filly | T: Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman | J: Blake Shinn (57kg)
Best Value at Sandown: Jenni La Rock
The Enver Jusufovic-trained Jenni La Rock was hardly inspiring when returning from a spell at Cranbourne on March 21, but her previous run showed a lot of promise. Prior to her spell, the Pariah filly ran third on debut when making up a stack of ground late behind the classy Vestas and subsequent metro winner King Zephyr. The three-year-old should have taken great benefit from her fresh run, and if Craig Newitt can have her within striking distance on the home turn, Jenni La Rock can salute in the opener.
Best Value
Race 1 – #8 Jenni La Rock (6)
3yo Filly | T: Enver Jusufovic | J: Craig Newitt (56kg)
