An eight-race card is scheduled for the Lakeside track at Sandown on Wednesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing expert presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is rated a Soft 6, the rail is set in the true position, and racing is scheduled to start at 1pm AEDT.

Sandown Best Bet – Spinning

Our best bet of the day comes up early on in the card when Tom Dabernig saddles up Spinning, who steps out of the Red Rose Stakes at Flemington on November 4. The three-year-old Pierro filly was beaten only 2.35 lengths on that occasion in a much harder race than what she contests here, and with Damien Oliver sticking on board she looks the one to beat. We expect Ollie to settle in the second half of the field of eight, so he should not be too far from the front throughout. Spinning has form around Sneaky Five two runs back and earlier in her career has chased home the likes of Generation and Gimmie Par. With a sharp turn of foot over the 1300m, we expect her to be the one hitting the line hard late on.

Next Best Bet at Sandown – Out Of Isolation

The formidable duo of Greg Eurell and Jamie Mott are set to combine with the omen bet of the day, Out Of Isolation, in the second leg of the quaddie. The four-year-old son of Squamosa was a dominant maiden winner at Sale on October 24, and with two horses from that race coming out and winning their next start, the form line looks to be the one to follow. This BM64 field appears to be quite competitive, but Out Of Isolation seems to have a fair bit of untapped ability. Having drawn barrier one, Mott will need a touch of luck when entering the home straight, but if he is afforded that, this pair should prove too hard to hold out.

Best Value Bet at Sandown – Toyz On Fire

We would be lying if we said that the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Toyz On Fire wasn’t a favourite of ours, but she looks well placed to bring up a third career win here at start 10. The four-year-old mare will need to turn the tables on Starlight Scope, who had her covered at Mornington on October 31. The daughter of Fighting Sun travelled three wide with no cover on that occasion and simply found it too hard to run on at the end. She gains the services of Matthew Cartwright on Wednesday, and with the apprentice’s claim giving his mount a 2.5kg weight swing on her rival, we expect Toyz On Fire to turn the tables on Starlight Scope and be the one to beat.
