The Hillside track at Sandown is the venue for Victorian racing this Wednesday with the club hosting an eight-race program with the first commencing at 12:25pm on a predicted Heavy 8 surface. The popular quaddie legs are from races five to eight with the first leg starting at 2:45pm.
SANDOWN BEST BET: THE BIG BUZZ
The Big Buzz has been knocking on the door for a win his last few and his run last start (third) was full of merit when only beaten 1.45 lengths at Caulfield. He has a good barrier in three this time and the Darci Brahma x Della Lobra gelding is ready to produce his best third up from a spell. Before his break he was running in better races than this against the likes of Bermadez and Heart Of Puissance, so he will appreciate a more winnable race here at Hillside. The Heavy track is a slight concern, but we will just have to trust the trainer’s judgment with this one. Gate Crash for Patrick Payne will start favourite and could be hard to catch.

NEXT BEST AT SANDOWN: DELICIOUS TYCOON
Delicious Tycoon gets barrier one here for trainer Matt Laurie, and we think that will help jockey Ben Melham push this filly up and sit just behind the leaders early. She settled around midfield last start at Sandown Lakeside when third and stormed home to be beaten half a length. We think this time Laurie will want the Written Tycoon x Rockolicious filly a little bit closer in the run. She was beaten a nose on Heavy ground at Sale two starts back, so track conditions here should suit. Gabstar for Colin Alderson and Michael Walker will be one of the favourites and will be hardest to beat.

SANDOW VALUE BET: TOKEN SPIRIT
Token Spirit is fourth up from a spell now and should be ready to show his best. For trainers Robbie Griffiths & Matt de Kock, this Wandjina x Miss Keepsake gelding can be pretty strong to the line and just might get the last crack at them over the 2400m distance. When third at Pakenham last start she was beaten half a length and came from eighth on the home turn. If there is pace on early, look for Token Spirit late. Wisaka from the Michael Moroney stable will be hardest to beat after two wins on the bounce. He also runs on from behind, so if Token Spirit can get on his back, even better.
