The Hillside track at Sandown is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Wednesday afternoon as part of the twilight racing season in Victoria. HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the meeting, with odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is in the true position, and racing is set to commence at 3:40pm AEDT.

Sandown Best Bet – Americain Angel

The Danny O’Brien-trained Americain Angel has finished second in both of her runs to begin her summer campaign, despite being a short-priced favourite on both occasions. This will be her first crack at 1300m, and with her sole win coming at 1400m, we anticipate the mare – who always seemed like a stayer – will appreciate coming back to the sprint trip. With a genuine tempo expected throughout, we expect the daughter of Americain will like the long straight at Sandown so she can build through her gears. Despite just winning once in nine career starts, she has seven minor placings to her name, and with the booking of John Allen, we have no doubt she will be fighting out the finish.

Next Best Bet at Sandown – Saving

In the opening leg of the quaddie, we are expecting Saving to build on his six-length victory on November 26 at Moonee Valley. The margin could have been much more if he wasn’t eased down inside the final 100m, and with Tigertiger well held in second on that day, we expect Saving to produce a similar result here. He goes up 2.5kg for Wednesday’s assignment, but that should be no issue for this son of Savabeel. From barrier six, Patrick Moloney will look to roll forward, take up the running and, like they did at The Valley, go for home early and ultimately prove too hard to run down over the 2400m.

Next Best Again at Sandown – Hurtle

Following a first-up third at Geelong on November 23, the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Hurtle looks well placed to bring up a second career win at Sandown on Wednesday when stepping out over 1000m. The three-year-old Capitalist gelding tends to do his best racing when leading the field up and try and run his rivals ragged. From barrier 10, Dean Holland will need to work some magic from the barrier to not get trapped three wide, and if he is gets that, we expect Hurtle will break his rivals’ hearts.
