An eight-race race card is scheduled for the Hillside track at Sandown on Wednesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers with odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The rail is out 4m for the circuit, the track is rated a Good 4, and racing is set to commence at 3:40pm AEDT.
Sandown Best Bet – Endlessly
Our best bet of the Sandown card comes up in the opening event when the Hawkes team send Endlessly to the 1300m following consecutive runner-up efforts to begin this campaign. The four-year-old mare out of Sebring has been beaten a combined 0.3 lengths in both starts this time in, including one by a pimple at Moonee Valley on December 3. She does her best racing when settling close to the speed, and from barrier six we expect to see Jye McNeil to have her settled outside the leader throughout. Endlessly has shown in her career that she can offer a kick in the home straight, so she should be too hard to run down in the opener.
Next Best Bet at Sandown – Pal D’oro
The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace yard send Pal D’oro back to Sandown following a dominant on-pace victory on the Lakeside circuit on November 24. Having settled second in the running on that day, this four-year-old son of Medaglia D’oro managed to amble up to the leader 300m out and then put his rivals away with ease to score by 2.25 lengths. The bay gelding will look to use barrier three to his advantage under another perfect steer from John Allen, who sticks on board. With a strong record when pairing with Pal D’oro (6: 2-1-1), Allen will look to roll forward and dictate terms throughout. With the rail out 4m on the Hillside track, conditions will suit leaders on Wednesday, and Pal D’oro looks a clear and obvious bet in the second leg of the quaddie.
Best Value Bet at Sandown – Atomic Selfie
Ben Brisbourne and visiting South Australian apprentice Jacob Opperman combine in the third leg of the quaddie as Atomic Selfie looks to make it three wins from her first five career starts. The four-year-old mare out of Atomic managed to absolutely bolt in at BM58 level at Bendigo on November 25, and if she brings that type of effort here, then she will take some beating. She is set to jump from barrier 13, so Opperman will need a touch of luck in an attempt to find cover. If he can do that, we expect this to be a genuinely run affair that suits the ones running on from midfield and further back. With a sharp turn of foot, Atomic Selfie has the juice to finish over the top of her rivals.
