The Hillside track at Sandown is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Monday afternoon and Horsebetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets, free quaddie picks and odds from leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail out 12m the entire circuit, for the meeting commencing at 1:15pm AEDT.
Sandown Best Bet – Attractable
The way the Peter Moody-trained Attractable broke his maiden at Mornington on December 14 suggests he will take some beating when he steps out over 1300m at Sandown. The son of I Am Invincible managed to put five-lengths on his closest rival in a dominant all the way victory last time out and we expect to see Jamie Kah adopt similar tactics on Monday. From barrier 12, look for Kah to use the Bay gelding’s early speed to their advantage and take up the running. On a day where the rail is out 12m the entire circuit, it will certainly be advantageous to be close to the speed and under a well-rated ride, Attractable looks a clear best bet of the day.
Next Best Bet at Sandown – Tempest Charm
The Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock-trained Tempest Charm may not get a better chance to break her maiden tag when stepping out over 1600m on Monday. The three-year-old Trust in a Gust filly was held up for a run for most of the home straight when finishing fifth over 1500m at Sandown. Once the filly saw clear air, she managed to hit the line with great intent and showed that if she gets out over further, she should take some beating. She gets the extra 100m here and from barrier eight, Jamie Kah will look to have her lobbed midfield with cover in the moving line. It seems to us that only bad luck will get her beat and is one of the best bets of the day.
Best Value Bet at Sandown – Universal Lady
In the final race of the day, we will be hoping the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Universal Lady can send us home a winner at a nice price. The four-year-old Exceed and Excel mare was not beaten far by Savannah Cloud at Moonee Valley on December 3 and with four weeks between runs, looks ideally placed to spring a surprise at odds. She has beaten home the smart Moral Force at Donald two starts back and considering she will be close to the speed throughout; we expect a bold showing. In six runs this campaign, she is yet to finish out side of the top four and with just 56.5kg on her back, Teo Nugent will have her fighting out the finish once again.
