Racing returns to Sandown Hillside on Saturday afternoon where a competitive nine-race program is set to greet punters. With a fair amount of rain forecast on Friday night and throughout Saturday morning, we expect to be racing on a Soft 7/Heavy 8 come the opening race, with a deteriorating surface to follow as the meeting goes on. The rail comes out 8m the entire circuit, but we anticipate jockeys will look to head towards the outside half of the track as the meeting progresses.
Racing gets underway at 12:05pm AEST.
Best Bet at Sandown: Globe
It does not take a genius to have Globe from the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr bard on top in the second leg of the quaddie. The four-year-old gelding has been faultless through three starts to begin his career and looks a clear best bet of the day as he steps out over 1800m once again. He was a smart track and trip winner in BM64 grade on April 19 and despite the dramatic rise to a BM100, he just looks to well-weighted for his rivals, who most of which are non-winners. Celine Gaudray who sticks on board and claims 2kg, gets Globe in with just 51kg on his back and despite drawing out wide in barrier 13, Gaudray will take luck out of the equation and have this bloke bounding along out in front. The stable has a high opinion of him and we do too.

Next Best at Sandown: Gunstock
We were happy to be with Gunstock when he was set to resume at Flemington, but following the abandonment of the meeting we have to wait for Saturday to back him upon resumption. The son of Tavistock generally fires fresh with a win and a second to his name when first-up from a spell. He is clearly the class horse of the race, and considering there is no doubt he is better on rain-affected ground, Gunstock will appreciate a genuinely run 1800m fresh and should be too strong late. Mark Zahra will have him stalking the speed throughout with a bit of luck and look for Gunstock to power clear and stamp his authority with bigger goals in mind up north during the Queensland Carnival.

Best Value at Sandown: Bless Her
The Clayton Douglas-trained wasn’t beaten all that far in the Listed Hareeba Stakes at Mornington in a tougher race than this and we anticipate she will run a big race here. The Street Boss mare has a win and second to her name at the Sandown Hillside 1000m scamper and with a wet track record of 15: 5-4-1 we know she will handle whatever is put in front of her on Saturday. With odds-on favourite Unflinching running this race at a breakneck tempo and with the potential at a bit of pressure throughout, the race looks perfectly setup for Bless Her to take a sit off the speed and power down the heart of the Sandown track and salute at a nice price.
