Sale Racecourse is set to host a competitive eight-race program on Sunday afternoon. With plenty of rain around Victoria on Thursday and Friday, the track has come up a Soft 7, with the further likelihood of a downgrade. The rail returns to the true position, with racing commencing at 1pm AEST.
Best Bet at Sale: Colombe D’or
Colombe D’or is a genuine wet tracker and is set to gain the perfect footing she is after. The five-year-old mare has two wins from three starts on wet tracks, with his sole failure coming last start in tougher company when chasing home Poison Chalice at Sandown. She relished the Heavy 8 deck at Werribee first-up on July 9 when wide throughout, and with similar conditions expected while dropping back to the 1400m, Colombe D’or looks a clear best bet of the day at Sale.

Next Best at Sale: Dio
Dio ran a bottler at Flemington behind Najem Suhail on July 15, and with eight weeks between runs, looks set to go one better at Sale. He finished second and was beaten 1.5 lengths by Najem Suhail, who has since come out and won with ease at Moonee Valley to frank the form. That was in BM78 company, and with the step back to BM70 company, Dakotah Keane on board claiming 3kg, and strong form behind him, Dio will take a power of beating in the third leg of the quaddie.

Best Value at Sale: Hazard A Guess
The Darryl Blackshaw-trained Hazard A Guess has found a new lease on life in recent times, running in the top three in each of his last three runs. All three efforts have suggested he would appreciate something further than 1200m, and the step up to 1400m this deep into a campaign looks ideal. Beau Mertens will have this bloke settled midfield with cover, and with a well-timed finishing burst, Hazard A Guess can break maiden ranks at start 10.
