Sale Turf Club is set to host a competitive little eight-race card on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian form expert is confident he has found a couple of winners. We look set to be racing on an improving track, currently rated a Soft 5, with the rail out 6m for the entire circuit. Racing kicks off at 1pm AEST.
Best Bet at Sale – Raffish
Archie Alexander will be hoping his four-year-old gelding Raffish can break through for a maiden win at start nine, and based off his last start, he looks well-placed to do just that on Tuesday. The Free Eagle gelding finished third at Ballarat beaten a half-length on April 24 and arguably threw away a win having laid in inside the final 100m. From barrier five, look for Egan to stalk the speed throughout in the one-one, and despite being a perennial non-winner, this looks to be Raffish’s day. The $2.40 on offer from Ladbrokes looks a great price to load into and build a bank for the rest of the day..

Next Best at Sale – House Spouse
Despite a poor first-up showing, the Patrick Payne-trained House Spouse clearly looks one of the better bets on the day, especially if the track keeps drying out. The four-year-old gelding struggled at Bendigo on April 20 but has since been back to the trials on a firmer deck where he was impressive when winning. He seemingly is at his best when settling at the rear of the field and being allowed to build through the gears at his own leisure. He should be afforded that luxury in this race, with plenty of speed in the field setting it up for House Spouse to unleash a strong finishing burst down the centre of the track. If the Reliable Man gelding is anywhere near his best, then the $3 with online betting sites is a price we cannot go past.

Best Value at Sale – Ima Dozer
The Christine Dixon-trained Ima Dozer went down by the barest of margins at Moe on April 25 in similar company, so he looks to be a great bet on price alone. He has a decent affiliation with the track at Sale, having notched up two minor placings from as many starts, and looks primed to bring up a second career win at start 18. With nine minor placings to his name in his career, he is as reliable as they come, although he continually finds one or two better than him on the day. From barrier five, Arron Lynch should have him settled just off the speed throughout, and if Ima Dozer is anywhere near his best, then the $7 with online bookmakers could be a steal.
