Racing will head to the Sale Racecourse this Wednesday afternoon for what promises to be a very competitive seven-race card. The current Good 4 track rating is what we expect to see on race day, with warm weather and no rain forecast across Tuesday and Wednesday in the area. The rail will be out in the +5m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 2:30pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Sale: Easterly
The third race of the day will see the return of the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained Easterly, who has been given both a trial and a jump out at Cranbourne over 990m and 1200m on February 6 and 13, to get prepared for her first-up run. This three-year-old filly finished in the placings at both of her runs last preparation, with both of those runs coming at Sale over 1400m and 1600m. On Wednesday, this daughter of Pride Of Dubai will be looking to break her maiden over 1519m, which looks to be a nice distance for this filly as 1400m looked to sharp and 1600m looked a stretch too far at her last start to end her campaign. From barrier four we should see Beau Mertens push forward and look to sit outside the leader and if she can keep up a high cruising speed, she will give them something to chase in the final 300m.

Next Best at Sale: River Ribble
In the first leg of the quaddie we will see the return of the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained River Ribble who raced in two hot races last time in before going out for a two-month spell at the end of 2022. Last preparation this three-year-old gelding kicked off over 1000m at Pakenham finishing third behind two smart ones, Dusse and Red Card, before going to another Benchmark 70 Handicap at Flemington where he finished sixth, just under three lengths behind She Dances. With the benefit of one jump out over 900m at Mornington on January 25, we should see this son of Ribchester ready to go first-up in a race that is much weaker than what he competed in last campaign. Fred Kersley will have his first sit on this gelding on Wednesday, so if he can try and get him to settle in the front half of the field and find his way to the outside on the home turn, we should see this guy run home down the outside to record his second win of his career.

Next Best Again at Sale: Remix
We will have to wait for the final race of the day to see our value play of the day go around in the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1736m, with the Mike Moroney-trained Remix having his fourth start for the preparation. This four-year-old gelding finished second last start at Warrnambool over 1700m in the same grade, finishing 1.25 lengths behind Pankhurst, after he couldn’t quicken and go with the winner on the home turn. Now fourth-up and hitting peak fitness, this son of Darci Brahma should be ready to return to the winners circle on Wednesday at Sale. Damien Thornton will have a task on his hands to get him this guy into a forward position where he likes to race, but if he can settle him in the front half of the field, he will get every opportunity to win.
