Sale Cup Top Tip – Riddle Me That
The Matt Laurie-trained Riddle Me That steps out of the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes at Caulfield on October 9 into the Sale Cup where he looks hard to hold out here. Having run within a length of Kahma Lass and subsequent winner Buffalo River last time out, the five-year-old son of Deep Field brings arguably the best form line into the feature event. We expect to see Jye McNeil settle him in the second half of the field where he can than peel out entering the home straight, work through the gears and ultimately finish over the top of his rivals. He comes here third up from and having not finished worse than third from four runs with two wins when third up, he looks a clear and obvious bet at a nice price.
Sale Best Bet – Americain Angel
We need to wait until the penultimate race of the day for our best bet at Sale when the Danny O’Brien-trained Americain Angel steps out over 1600m. Having hit the line with intent when finishing second at Bendigo over 1400m on October 3, she should be primed to go here at Sale. She was beaten less than two-lengths by Media Award in the Australasian Oaks at her last run in her autumn campaign, suggesting she may have a touch of class on the remainder of this field. She will look to get back in the field and run on and with the in-form Damien Thornton on board she should be simply too good here and continue her impressive to her career.
Sale Value Bet – Zion
The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Zion simply did not handle the Heavy 8 at Mornington, but we expect the four-year-old son of Rubick can bounce back here at Sale. His win at Mornington two starts back could not be any better from the rear of the field when rounding them up approaching the home turn and putting them away with relative ease. He looks to get a genuine tempo which will suit his get back and run on racing pattern and if he presents any form similar to that of his win two starts back, Zion should prove too hard to hold out.
